Nuria Picas and Yanqiao Yun at the top of Vibram Hong Kong 100

On Saturday, January 14, 1800 participants started the first race of Ultra Trail World Tour® for this season and Vibram Hong Kong 100 fulfilled runner’s expectations. After 100 kilometers, the Spanish Nuria Picas and the Chinese runner  Yanqiao Yun have finally won the race.

 

An exciting race:

Vibram Hong Kong 100, with its diverse landscapes, was once again very fun this year. For 100 kilometers, participants raced through a great diversity of landscapes: beaches, hills, deserts, and forests of the Hong Kong’s area.

This year a lot of Elites were present for this first race of the Ultra-Trail World Tour®.

The Chinese runner Yun Yanquiao won the race in just 9h35 only two minutes behind François d’Haene’s record sat last year. The Italian Daniel Jung and American Sage Canaday took respectively the second and the third places, with over 25 minutes gap.

For the women, Nuria Picas broke the race record in 11h18. The Spanish athlete confirms her excellent shape to return with strength in the Ultra-Trail World Tour® competition. Came second and third, the Chinese Linming Chen and the Hong Kong based runner Marie MacNaughton.

The Elite Support Program of Ultra-Trail World Tour®:

For this first race of the season, UTWT was delighted to support three athletes. Despite the withdrawal of Anthony Gay, Nuria Picas and Didrik Hermansen had great performances with especially a fourth place for Didrik.
