Ultra-Trail® World Tour on the mountains of The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail

The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail comes back this year for the 11th edition with even more athletes, with always a beautiful scenery and with an unbelievable atmosphere throughout the race. A lot of athletes have chosen Italia at mid-season and they will not be disappointed.

The round of the Dolomites in under 30 hours:

The Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site, will be the playground of the athletes of the famous North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail this Friday, 23rd June. With some peaks that reach about 2500 meters, the runners can appreciate an exceptional panorama with a lot of climbs like the Crystal, the Tofane, Cinque Torri, and of course the Three Peaks.

On this alpine course, the night is present and the headlamp will accompany the runners all along the race. That’s what makes it so unique. Furthermore, a lot of Italians come during the 119 kilometers of the race to encourage the athletes in this adventure. True event, the North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail is also a good preparation for the UTMB® in September. That’s why, every year, many athletes move to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the nerve center of the race.

On the women side, the talent, the desire, and the courage:

Lavaredo Ultra Trail welcomes this year many Elite athletes, who want to win in Italia. The first of these is making a great come back on the UTWT races. After having dropped out Transgrancanaria HG this year, Caroline CHAVEROT (FRA) (2nd at the UTWT World Ranking) comes back stronger than ever at the North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail. She well knows the Alps et feels comfortable on this kind of course. So, she has all the chances to win the race.

Emma ROCA (SPA) will be also a big favorite for the first place of the race. 3rd last year at Diagonale des Fous and 5th of the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run, she is proven in the Ultra-Trail® World Trail. She searches a first victory on the circuit.

Ruth CROFT (NZL) has already won the CCC® in 2015 and finished 2nd of Tarawera Ultramarathon the same year. She chooses The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail to make her come back on the Ultra-Trail® World Tour and she is ready to win the race this year.

The French Juliette BLANCHET (7th at the UTWT World Ranking) and the Italian Lisa BORZANI (17th at the UTWT World Ranking) have a great track record on the Ultra-Trail® World Tour and are serious competitors for the victory.

Lizzy HAWKER (GBR) and Maud GOBERT (FRA) will be the outsiders of the race but they are still possible pretenders to victory. On the women side, a big competition is expected.

A big confrontation between the best of the world at Lavaredo Ultra Trail:

On the men’s athletes, the level is just unbelievable and we don’t know who will win the race this weekend. Here is a quick presentation of the favorites.

Gediminas GRINIUS (1st at the UTWT World Ranking) was the winner of the 2016 Ultra-Trail® World Tour. Thanks to his experience on the circuit, he has all the chances to make a good result. 4th at MIUT and 5th at Tarawera Ultramarathon this year, he comes in a good shape and he is ready for the Italian challenge.

Didrik HERMANSEN (3rd at the UTWT World Ranking) finished 5th at Vibram Hong Kong 100 Ultramarathon and 4th at Transgrancanaria HG this year. He wants to do a good performance on the North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail. He is a big favorite.

Pau CAPELL (5th at the UTWT World Ranking) is now considered as the man to beat this year. He started a quasi-perfect season on the Ultra-Trail® World Tour with a victory at Transgrancanaria HG and a 2nd place at MIUT. In a good shape, he confirms his will to win in Italia.

Daniel JUNG (ITA) made a good beginning of the season with a 2nd place at Vibram Hong Kong 100 Ultramarathon and a 6th place at MIUT like Vaidas ZLABYS (LTU) with a 2nd place at Transgrancanaria HG. They are very good athletes and can surprise their competitors.

Scott HAWKER (NZL) and Julien CHORIER (FRA) have a lot of experiences on the Ultra-Trail® World Tour. They are not favorites but they are the real outsiders for the victory of the race.
