Unbelievable weekend for the Ultra-Trail® World Tour with no less than three races

This Friday 7th 2017, the Ultra-Trail® Tour was present in three different continents thanks to three extraordinary races. Whereas we already know the winners of 100 Miles of Istria in Croatia and of Patagonia Run in Argentina, much more must be done by the athletes of Marathon des Sables in Morocco because the race unfolds in six stages.

100 Miles of Istria, the year of records:

In the Croatian sun, the runners had to intensify their efforts to finish the 171 kilometers of the race. With a five-stars finish line, close to the sea, Dylan BOWMAN (USA) and Francesca CANEPA (ITA) stayed far ahead of their competitors.

On the women side, Francesca CANEPA largely won the race for the second year in a row in front of Alenka PAVC (SVN) and Ulrike STRIEDNIG (AUT). She likes this course and begins the UTWT season 2017 in the best possible way. We will meet again at Penyagolosa Trails in one week.

Dylan BOWMAN won the 100 Miles of Istria with honor by beating the race record in 17h51m50s. After his first place at Tarawera Ultramarathon and Ultra-Trail® Australia in 2015, he is back in force for the 2017 season.

Oliviero BOLATELLI (ITA) and Paul GIBLIN (GBR) did great performances too and get the second and the third place of the race.

TOP Istria

The king of Patagonia Run stays on his throne in Argentina:

Sergio Jesus TRECAMAN (ARG) became legendary of the Patagonia Run by winning for the fifth times the iconic race of the South America. The Argentinian stays the undisputed leader in front of his two compatriots, Jose Manuel GASCA (ARG) and Gustavo ISMAIL (ARG).

The 145 kilometers of Patagonia Run this year has been positive to Adriana Vanesa VARGAS (ARG), who wins the race in 21 hours 01 minutes et 22 seconds. Teresa NIMES (SPA) and Laura GORDIOLA complete the podium.

On the sand, the competition intensifies at many stages:

Athletes of Marathon des Sables have already started the competition with the first three stages. In the Morocco sun and in the Saharan desert, the best athletes in the world meet.

At this time, Rachid EL MORABITY (MOR), already four-time winner of the event, is heading straight for a fifth victory by winning two out of three stages.

On the women side, Elisabet BARNES is going in the right direction for the victory. She won the first three stages but Nathalie MAUCLAIR (1st at the UTWT World Ranking) and Fernanda MACIEL are close and still have the possibility to win the Marathon des Sables.

We are following the Marathon des Sables with great intensity
