2014 UTWT Ranking:
Goals for 2015/2016:
To again place in the top 5 on the UTWT, making the podium at Western States and TNF100.
Best memory from trail-running:
Winning the 2013 TNF100 and breaking the course record.
This race is in my area where I live, the Blue Mountains.
Why have you chosen this sport?
It’s a way of life and has never felt like a sport that I’ve never enjoyed training for.
I also live in the bush which makes it easy.
How long have you been running (ultra-) trail races?
Which is your favourite race of the UTWT? And why?
Western States, it’s just so iconic and has so much history. Plus it suits my strengths as a runner.
Do you have any recommendations for preparing/running an ultra-trail?
Definitely try and get out and run on the course in training if possible. Knowing that can take a lot of the anxiety away.
Also when you’re running, try not to think about ‘how far to go’ but how far you’ve come and how far there is to go to the next checkpoint.
Breaking the race down into smaller chunks seems to help me the best.
What is your favourite proverb?
«Train hard to race easy.»
Do you have a habit you always follow before a race?
Not really, a good night’s sleep 2 nights before the race is crucial.
