Stage 2 in New Zealand summer!
This is a historical race of the Ultra-Trail World Tour, which celebrates its 10th birthday this Saturday: welcome to New Zealand for Tarawera Ultramarathon!
Since it was launched the event has been managed by a group of passionate trail running lovers! A few big changes take place this year, including the creation of a 100 Miler within the Tarawera Ultramarathon event.
There will be great elite runners on the start line of the 102k race though, and we cannot wait to see if the performances will be equal to the crazy stuff we saw last year!
Remember: Camille Herron and Jim Walsmley had great presence for the start of successful seasons for them two!
This year, Ruby Muir (from New Zealand), Cecilia Flori (from Italy), Jo Zakrzewski (from the UK) but also the American Kelly Wolf and Amanda Basham have great chances to be on the podium. This will be an intense race on the beautiful course on the Northern Island of New Zealand.
In the men’s race, we can note the presence of Dylan Bowman, winner of 100 Miles of Istria Ultratrail and 7th of the UTMB last year. Cody Reed (USA), Sam McCutcheon (New Zealand), Vaidas Zlabys (Lithuania) will also want to perform well for their first meeting of the season.
Special thoughts to Vaidas Zlabys and Cody Reed, who are supported by UTWT for this race. Good luck!
There is a change in the course this year, and the finish line will be in dowtown Rotorua. The lakes, forests and hills to finish strong in the beautiful city, where lots of sport enthusiasts should be waiting for the finishers on the finish area! We can’t wait to be there!
