UTMF & MIUT® to conclude the Crazy April!

UTMF & MIUT® to conclude the Crazy April!

After 100 Miles of Istria, Patagonia Run and Marathon des Sables (Bonus Stage), the Ultra-Trail® World Tour is moving to Japan for Ultra-Trail® Mt Fuji and to Portugal for Madeira-Island Ultra-Trail® (MIUT®). 2 great occasions to close the fantastic Crazy April who should play a great role in the UTWT season.

What a fantastic news! The Japanese race is back in the series as Pro race. After 1 year of absence due to severe weather conditions, the 170Km race starts on Friday 27th at 3PM (local hour). From Fujisan, the runners will discover the famous Mount Fuji, a sacred volcano in Japan. The courses passes through forests, paths and fields with 7500 m of elevation gain.  All the participants will feel the Japanese culture all race long, with its architecture, its landscapes and the people.

Concerning the competition, the 2 athletes supported by the Ultra-Trail® World Tour will certainly be among the favourites. The first one Pau CAPELL (ESP), is the main favourite to win the Pro race. The second one is Mark HAMMOND (USA). He finished 3rd at the Western States Endurance Run and can play the outsider role!

Sebastien Chaigneau (FRA), Seth Swanson and Dylan Bowman (USA), Sange SHERPA (NEP), MIN QI (CHN – HK100 winner) will also be on the starting line. A great Elite Field for the return of the UTMF in the series. Concerning women, most of the starters are local and the race should be very uncertain.

MIUT®: the crossing of the Island

Madeira Island Ultra-Trail® starts by night at midnight (local hour) on Saturday 28th! From West to East for 115Km and 7100 m of elevation gain, runners will admire the best of the Madeira Island (Portugal). Between sea and mountain, the landscapes are totally insane. Last year, the 2 UTWT champions 2017 won the race: Andrea Huser (SUI) and François D’HAENE (FRA). MIUT® may decide once again who will win the Ultra-Trail® World Tour this year.

This year, the MIUT® starting line will be crazy! Damian Hall (GBR), Gediminas Grinius (LTU), Caroline Chaverot (FRA), Fabien Antolinos (FRA), Juliette Blanchet (FRA) and Scotty Hawker (NZL), will be there. The victory is very uncertain. Javi Dominguez (ESP) and Kellie Emerson (AUS), both supported by the Ultra-Trail® World Tour, can fight for the victory.
