Last race 2017 for UTWT at Ultra-Trail® Cape Town
For its last race, the Ultra-Trail® World Tour arrives in South Africa for Ultra-Trail® Cape Town. The race is going to take place on December 2nd.
First time for UTCT
For it 4th edition, the Ultra-Trail® Cape Town enter UTWT this year as a Challenger race. It ends an intense season. This new destination proposed by the Ultra-Trail® World Tour presents a diversity of terrains between urban pathways and summits above the city and the ocean.
The 100km course offers 4350m of elevation gain to the athletes. They will have the occasion to observe stunning landscapes around the city. Two steep ascents are scheduled with the « Table Mountain » and “Karbonkelberg”, which are in the rude first half of the race. Indeed, after 25km, the athletes will have to achieve 1800m of elevation gain. In the last kilometres of the race they will discover the sunrise that illuminates the “City Bowl” and admire the amazing views.
End of the season for the elite athletes
Even if the suspense is over for the UTWT annual ranking, UTCT welcomes the best 2017 Elites. Andrea Huser, the 2017 champion, will participate with Lucy Bartholomew, and Teresa Nimes. In the men race, Dylan Bowman, Diego Pazos, Scotty Hawker but also the South African Western States winner Ryan Sandes. He will want to lead the race in his country and finish the season well. Let’s not forget another South-African runner: Prodigal Kumalo. He will try to keep his title despite the fierce competition this year.
