The rollercoaster of the UTWT : MIUT 2016
Zach Miller and Caroline Chaverot win the MIUT 2016, 5th stage of the Ultra-Trail World Tour !
The 2 winners of the MIUT 2016, made us dream on this amazing course!
No stategy for Zach Miller, winner of the CCC last year, but an intense desire to run and to travel the beautiful but terrible 115 km and 7000 D+ of the Madeira Island, which led him to victory !
Only 13h53mn35 to win MIUT, before Tofol Castanyer and Sébastien Camus, taking time to savor its final line and to play with the public. All race long, the 27-year-old American played… With the course, “Up and Down” that makes it look like a rollercoaster, with the other runners, with his time, and to finish as he started, in style, jumping the finishing line.
Then, followed Andréa Huser (16h24mn04) and Emilie Lecomte arriving 3 hours later onto the podium in 17h57mn35.
MIUT 2016 : a rollercoaster ?
The MIUT 2016 standed out for its route, its “Up and Down” shape, looking like a rollercoaster, and its rythm as well as its twists and turns.
We remember Antoine Guillon, flying before Sebastien Camus and Zach Miller on the long way down to Chao da Ribeira. But then, surprised in the ascent towards Estanquinhos in the mountains of the island, where Zach Miller went front, because it’s true, he “loves rising! “.
The race was amazing, in spite of a muddy and slippery ground, due to large scale storms a few days before the race, causing some frights to the organizers, and a final part above the sea which erases any tracks of suffering.
Zach Miller now wants “to rest and to prepare the UTMB” and “to work these raids”.
We are eager to assist next edition !
See you next year and thank you !
