The UTWT starts in Hong Kong!

Busy weekend in Hong Kong!

The 5th season of the Ultra-Trail® World Tour is launched with style in the Asian great city!

The Vibram® Hong Kong 100 begins on Saturday, January 27th at 8AM local time. 2000 runners will try and finish the 100km on the technical trails of Hong Kong. A course that makes you discover the natural beauty of the city, far from the clichés one can have about it.

The website of the race gives you great insight into the preparation of the event: click here.

A great elite field

The race has been attracting more and more very good runners year after year. This year is no exception to that rule.

The American runners Alex Nichols and Zach Bitter, both supported by the Ultra-Trail® World Tour, should run for the win, facing a pack mostly made up of local runners (actually from Asia or living there). We can cite among others Kazufumi Ose (Japan), Siu-Keung “Stone” Tsang (Hong Kong), Harry Jones (UK), Purna Tamang (Nepal).

The full list of entrants is available on the race’s website.

The women race should be very exciting to follow. The field promised to be super competitive with Mélanie Rousset (France), Lisa Borzani (Italy), Marie McNaughton (New Zealand), Mira Rai (Nepal). It got even stronger when Andréa Huser announced she intended to race too!

In Hong Kong to receive her UTWT 2017 Champion Trophy, the Swiss runner has decided to stay a bit longer to start her season like she finished last year: taking part to an Ultra-Trail World Tour race. Welcome back Andréa!

Our friends of iRunFar prepared a very complete preview of the race here.

They will be covering the race, stay tuned here!

The UTWT awards as an appetiser
