A memorable evening to celebrate the end of the 2nd season of the Tour
Ultra-Trail® World Tour 2015 Awards Ceremony – Report
This first Thursday of November, the family of trail running hurried to Paris for the Awards Ceremony of the Ultra-Trail® World Tour 2015!
After an afternoon of interviews for athletes and the media present, the 2015’s champions, Nùria Picas and Antoine Guillon along with Jean-Charles Perrin, Development Manager of the Circuit gathered at the press conference.
This was the opportunity to look at the 2015’s season. All races have seen their number of runners increase, 82 countries were represented versus 74 last year.
The aim is to capitalize on this remarkable development and consolidate the competition in 2016 while expanding with 3 priorities:
- To allow a larger access to all runners by covering more region of the world
- To enhance international visibility of the circuit and its races
- To develop our services to runners
The 2016’s tour will be composed of 12 races (including 5 series) with the integration, as official race of the Madeira Island Ultra Trail.
This competition circuit is accompanied by 6 “Future races”, that have the potential to integrate UTWT in the future:
- 100 Miles Of Istria (Croatia)
- 100 Mozart (Austria)
- Ultra Trail Harricana (Canada)
- Grand to Grand Ultra (United States)
- Ultra-Trail Cappadocia (Turkey)
- Javelina Jundred (United States)
Then came the time to celebrate the Champions during the ceremony. The first six men (two 5th with the same number of points) were present to receive their prize. Of the Top 5 female, Nùria Picas and Nathalie Mauclair were able to attend.
We were honoured to have François D’Haene, UTWT’s Winner in 2014, to give their trophies to Nùria and Antoine!
The organizers of the 2015 circuit then told us their best memories of this year race.
Live in the theater or over the Internet. This has resulted in a few funny scenes, such as Paul Charteris, organizer of Tarawera Ultramarathon, live from his New Zealand garden in the morning!
All were able to turn to 2016 warmly welcoming the organizers of “Future”, who had made the trip. The perfect occasion for a family photo!
The evening ended with a draw for spectators and those who responded to our questionnaire on Internet. The “Future” Races offered 5 lots.
Finally athletes stayed a few minutes to talk with the audience at the end of this great evening!
