Ultra-Trail® du Mont-Blanc® – Results
The Ultra-Trail® du Mont-Blanc® marked the 9th visit of the Ultra-Trail® World Tour in 2015.
This sacred week in Chamonix kept its promises once again. Thousands of runners took part in one of the few races proposed by the organizing team.
The starting signal for the UTMB (170k and 10.000m of vertical gain) was given on Friday at the end of the afternooon under a perfect weather. The heat would be difficult to handle for a lot of runners, even during the night. The starting list of elite runners was exceptional this year.
And the outsider Xavier Thevenard (FRA) won his fourth late-august Chamonix race in 4 participations (1 CCC, 1 TDS and 2 UTMB). In 21:09:15 he led almost the entire race and was followed by Luis-Alberto Hernando (ESP) in 21:57:17. After a crazy second half on the course David Laney (USA) made the podium at the 3rd position, in 21:59:42.
The women’s race was another episode of the confrontation between Nathalie Mauclair (FRA) and Caroline Chaverot (FRA), very close until the 150th kilometer. Caroline Chaverot finally abandoned and Nathalie won in 25:15:33 (20th overall) with a comfortable advance ahead of Uxue Fraile-Azpeitia (SPA) in 26:29:35. Denise Zimmerman (SWI) completed the podium in 27:33:51.
