In light of the growing global concern over the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19, we inform you that several of the upcoming events within the ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD TOUR 2020 circuit have been either postponed or cancelled:
Gaoligong by UTMB®, originally scheduled for 21st – 23rd March, has been postponed to 18th - 20th December.
Patagonia Run, originally scheduled for 3rd - 4th April, has been postponed until further notice, with the new dates still to be confirmed.
100 Miles of Istria, originally scheduled for 17th April, has been postponed to 24th - 27th September.
Penyagolosa Trails HG, originally scheduled for 18th April, has been postponed to 16th - 18th October.
Ultra-Trail® Mount Fuji, originally scheduled for 24th - 26th April, has been cancelled.
Madeira Island Ultra Trail®, originally scheduled for the 25th April, has been cancelled.
The ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD TOUR team wishes to take this opportunity to express its full support to the race organizers who have made these decisions to postpone or cancel. The ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD understands that these are the necessary and responsible precautions to take for the health and safety of all those involved.
The ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD TOUR fully appreciates all the hard work and effort that has gone into the preparation of these events and stands behind the global trail running community during this challenging time.
The ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD TOUR management team is in close communication with all of the event organizers and remains alert and vigilant to the latest updates on the circuit. The team will continue to stand behind any further decisions to postpone or cancel as a result of this growing situation.
The ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD TOUR team equally supports all the athletes, both the elites and amateurs, who were due to participate in the above races, and who have as a result been directly affected by these decisions. The team recognizes the great lengths to which each athlete prepares for these events, in terms of training, scheduling and beyond.
This is a difficult situation not only for the trail running family, but also for communities all over the world. That said, the ULTRA-TRAIL® WORLD TOUR team knows that with the necessary measures in place, we will get through this period of adversity, and come out stronger together as a result.
